Our Team

Youth Ink is an aspirational voice, providing a stage for those who have not been given a legitimate first chance. Youth Ink comprises those who have lived experience of the criminal justice system and the wider issues surrounding it, such as racial discrimination, addiction and mental health problems.

Jay Jones

Lead Peer Navigator

I came to Youth Ink at 17 part of my YOS order I was not in education, and I was mixing with groups of people involved with criminality. Youth-ink gave me a second chance to show my worth and to better myself. It gave me a purpose again, and I never thought. I would have a legit job and go to all the exciting places that Youth-Ink has taken me. It also helped me to develop my communication skills. I love helping young people understand the things I didn’t and better themselves for the future.

Taylor Price

Peer Support Trainer

I came to youth Ink at 16 part of my YOS order I was still attending school; however, I was mixing with groups of people involved with criminality.

I took up voluntary work with Youth Ink and trained to become a peer support navigator involved with the Peer Support Navigator Network. During my time as a volunteer, it allowed me to have a more positive mind-set. I learnt the importance of reflection. I now look at my behaviours and try to understand how I can improve personally. I also have a better outlook on my future and where I will be what I shall be doing.

I love helping my community, allowing others to grow in confidence to understand what I never did because I did not have anyone like me to talk too; I am now a peer trainer.

Tyreese Scott

Peer Support Navigator

I first started volunteering on the PSN program when I was attending the YOS for a knife offence at 14, and it seemed like an excellent opportunity to change and become a better person while helping others. The fact I can help people who have been in similar situations to me is why I work as Peer Support Navigator at Youth Ink, and alongside the YOS, it’s something I’m passionate about. Bettering myself and helping the people in my community.

Working at Youth Ink makes you pick up skills and little gems that can be used in my everyday life. It also allows you to experience things you wouldn’t normally do like going to the YJB in Birmingham, which was an eye-opener seeing how many people want to hear your story, which isn’t expected.
